
The African Ivory Route of the Limpopo Province of South Africa is for the person drawn to the African wild and its wildernesses. It is a world of breathtaking scenery and endless vistas of African bush where to this day large herds of elephants and other big game roam.
In a secluded niche surrounded by foothills of the mountain Blouberg camp offers colourfull decorated traditional huts with en-suite facilities for ten guests and opportunities for day excursions to various natural and cultural attractions in the area, or a 2-day excursion up the mountain.
Of particular interest is a large expanse of indigenous yellow-wood trees. The area is also home to one of the largest colonies of Cape vultures in South Africa.
Camps are self-catering, with a central kitchen facility, and accommodation consist of either luxury tents with en suite bathrooms ( bush camps ) or traditional huts with communal ablution facilities ( cultural camps ), depending on the character of the area where they are situated.
Although basic these camps are comfortable with all the basic conveniences and are equipped with stoves, fridges, cutlery and crockery, whilst beds but no bedding are provided.
Catering and bedding is however optionally available ( supplied by local service providers ) in certain camps. Staff at the camps are trained as guides and can show visitors the attractions of the areas.
