The reserve is a well-known birding destination, with 400 species of birds including numerous varieties of water bird.Game found on the reserve includes kudu, waterbuck, zebra, reedbuck, steenbuck, duiker, impala, Nyala, warthog, aardvark, bushpig, crocodile and otter.
Angling, boating, skiing, parasailing, windsurfing and canoeing are among the water-based activities on the reserve's dam.
