This year the cycle tour will take place in the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park within the Makuleke / Pafuri region of northern Kruger National Park (South Africa) and Mozambique's Limpopo National Park.
The objective of the cycle tour is to give cyclists (a) an incredible opportunity to ride through fantastic and wild National Parks and (b) to raise funds for two worthy non-profit organizations - Peace Parks Foundation and Children in the Wilderness, a rural children's environmental and life skills programme.
This cycle tour is an amazing mountain bike ride through wonderful countryside that riders can't normally access. It is not a race, but a ride through two wonderful national parks.
However we would like all cyclists to commit to raising as much money as possible on a per kilometer sponsorship basis. Monies raised will solely benefit Children in the Wilderness. Prize’s will be given to the cyclists who raises the most money.
Whilst the participation cost sounds high, the logistics are expensive and extensive and all free cash generated goes entirely to the above two non-profit organizations. Your donation will go towards Peace Parks Foundation and to Children in the Wilderness and in so doing will help to preserve our environment and to help educate our rural children on the importance of conservation.
We believe that in the long run, your money will assist in ensuring that critically threatened environments are conserved. We are also actively looking for any interested sponsors that would like to participate in this event, to enable us to reduce our overheads and generate more revenue for these charities. We can accommodate a maximum of 150 cyclists on a first come first serve basis.
The Land Rover Owners Club of Southern Africa will have vehicles following the riders en route. These support vehicles will carry bicycle spares, refreshments and medical kits for the riders. All drivers are experienced in travelling off-road and will offer much needed support and safety to the riders. The LROC, a club dedicated to conservation of our wildlife and the environment is proud to be associated with an event such as this.
