LIMPOPO; POLOKWANE: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is again geared up for the upcoming Easter period and no doubt tourists and local citizens will be looking at the leading domestic tourism destination of choice in the country, destination Limpopo, as an option for Easter holidays. The aim of the campaign is to showcase Limpopo as a suitable holiday destination for the Easter holidays. The target market will be the visiting friends and relatives (VFR’s) and potential tourists visiting the Province.

Easter is a very important period as most of the people will be coming to Limpopo for various reasons including religious activities because the Province is home to some big name churches in the country. The objectives for the Easter Campaign are to educate and raise awareness about Limpopo product offerings, to promote Limpopo as an accessible, value-for-money destination for all within and beyond the borders of the province, to position Limpopo province as a favorable leisure tourism destination of choice and to promote and instill a culture of intra-provincial travel (geographic spread).

The Agency has planned to launch the Easter Tourism awareness campaign at Thohoyandou Stadium during the PSL game between Black Leopards FC and Kaiser Chiefs FC on the 13th April 2019 with the major Ester Campaign Activation taking place on the 18th April 2019. An Easter in Limpopo Shot left park will be created where LTA offices will be transformed to be an entertainment park targeting travelers coming into Limpopo with the aim of creating a warm welcome experience which will showcase the various Limpopo Traditional cuisine, refreshments and entertainment from traditional groups including BaPedi, VaTsonga & Vhavenda groups, arts and crafts, spas and various goodies being offered on the day.  

The activation will be done in partnership with Capricorn FM and Power FM and possibility of representation of the three Soccer teams (Baroka, Black leopards and Polokwane City) who will bring their players where fans can take selfies and autographs. The MEC for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), Mr. Seaparo Sekoati, will be expected to welcome the patrons and wishing them well on their travel.

“There are so many places to visit as people are in the province, which include but not limited to, Kruger National Park, Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site, Bela Bel Hot Springs, Marakele National Park, Segole Big Tree in Vhembe, Ribola Art Route, Dam Resorts, private game reserves, Magoebaskloof Canopy tours, provincial and municipal parks in the Province where people can have their picnics. There will also be a fill-up Peter Mokaba Stadium Music Festival with related activities and Mall of the North Marathon for people to enjoy as part of the Easter festivities in the Province”, said Nomasonto Ndlovu LTA CEO.

Ndlovu further said, “Our daunting responsibility at hand is converting our huge numbers of visiting friends and relatives (VFR) into real holiday makers which we are optimistic will impact on tourism. This is our obsession now as we embark on this journey and more work will be done to better understand our target audience and core source markets, especially the SADC component. The campaign seeks to showcase Limpopo as a suitable holiday destination for the Easter Holidays”.

  • Magoebaskloof Farm Run on 20 April 2019
  • Turkish Food Festival at Mall of the North in Polokwane on 26 April 2019
  • Zebediela Fun Run Easter Edition Polokwane Annual Mayoral Road Race on 27 April 2019 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
