2010 Welcome Awards

The 2010 Welcome Awards were announced on 9 May at a star-studded event at the INDABA in Durban, where South Africa’s finest travel and tourism product owners were given the top honours for service excellence in a largely competitive market.

The Welcome Awards are a highlight on the local travel and tourism calendar. The awards are a South African Tourism initiative to recognise and therefore encourage and inspire excellence in the field of customer service in the local tourism industry.  The awards are sponsored by First National Bank’s Tourism Division.

Amidst much fanfare and excitement, mr Sydney Mikosi from SANPark’s Marakele National Park was singled out for world-class service excellence and a commitment to improving standards in the hospitality industry for tourist guides.

In his career as tourist guide, he received nine other certificates and awards including for Excellent Performance 2009/10, Outstanding customer service, Best achiever: Provincial and National Tourist Guides Welcome Awards Competition 2009/10 and Excellence in Field Guiding.

According to Mr. Pieter de Bruin, head of First National Bank’s Tourism Division, excellent service is fundamental to the visitor experience. The winners of the Welcome Awards have been recognised and in turn been rewarded for delivering on this promise..
 
Mr Sydney Mikosi, tourist guide from Marakele National Park with the seven certificates and awards he received for “Excellence in Field Guiding”. He walked away with the highest service accolade in tourism for tourist guides at the annual Welcome Awards at INDABA. His awards are as are as follow .

Best guide of limpopo 2010 welcome awards, Best provincial guide of south Africa Welcome awards 2010, Outstanding customer service award 2010 from Sanparks, field guiding excellent award 2010 from limpopo field guiding academy, Excellent Performance at workplace chief executive  award 2010 from sanparks, Overall best performer of the whole entire of SanParks chief executive award 2010, Overall achiever 2011 provincial welcome awards, and still looking forward to harvest more as a result of his professional treatment .
