5150 Triathlon Bela Bela Entries Now Closed – Race Day Approaches!

After months of anticipation, the entries are in and things are about to kick-off with a bang at the inaugural 5150 Triathlon Bela Bela on Saturday 13 August 2011! Forever Resorts Warmbaths is where the action will be taking place as the South African triathlon calendar welcomes are sure-fire winner to its stable.

Over 500 athletes will be at the starting line as they usher in a new era for standard distance triathlons in South Africa. The 5150 Triathlon series has already sparked major interest in the USA and Europe and now Africa has the chance to see what all the hype is about.

South Africans who have been part of the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa and Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa will know that athletes are in for a world class race experience as the 5150 Triathlon Bela Bela is staged by World Endurance South Africa, the same company that organises these two world-renowned events in South Africa.

Athletes will challenge themselves in a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run making up a total distance of 51.5km hence the name, 5150, pronounced fifty-one-fifty.  What makes this series so unique and appealing, apart from its association with the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 brands, is the lucrative prize purse on offer.

The 5150 Triathlon Bela Bela has a prize purse of US$10 000 while the Hy-Vee 5150 US Championship boasts an incredible prize purse of US$1.5 million. Age group athletes will compete for one of ten qualifying slots per age group to the US Champs while elite athletes will compete for 5150 Series points.

This new event is sure to get Bela Bela and Forever Resorts Warmbaths rocking and will set the scene for a bumper weekend which includes Bela Bela’s first ever Pritt Ironkids on Sunday 14 August 2011.

Scientists believe that everything can be worked out by numbers and mathematical code which essentially means that numbers make the world go round.
