31.03.11All the good News first: Duimpy’s release update and freedom for other monkeys…..
Duimpy’s Troop was eventually joined by 4 wild monkeys, presumably from the 7 wild monkeys which had been spotted occasionally in the far distance. After releasing a relocated wild male too at Dunroamin Safaris outside Vaalwater our troop was ready for life in the Bush without our 24-7 presence.
After moving his camp once and living at the lodge the last few days, Shane, our release manager came back to Bambelela. We’re still visiting the site/monkeys twice a week to bring food up and for checking up on them. The wild monkeys are teaching them to roam around and forage and they are all doing very well, showing not much interest in our “exotic” food we are leaving for them.
Our biggest THANKS to Michelle and Barrie from Dunroamin Safaris for giving the monkeys a second chance to live free on their game farm. We appreciate all their assistance and hospitality to continue monitoring the troop.
