31.03.09A rescue call for a Lesser Bushbaby. People in Bela Bela had the tiniest of all SA primates as a “Pet” in a cage at their house.
The Lady wants to give the fully grown Bushbaby freedom back and we fetched and transferred the little guy to people in PTA who specialize in rehabilitating the nocturnal primate.
Little Newcomer “Chappie” needed an operation, for some months he had Hernia, and the VET stitched the little hole where his bladder kept on coming out, closed. Chappie’s Bambelela-Caretaker “Katja” assisted Vet Marius during the operation. The difficult task was trying to keep the little one as quiet as possible.
This almost impossible duty included carrying him around, stopping him from jumping, running etc. The risk for the Hernia to come back is very high. So far, so good.
After 1 week, he is back in our Vervet-Kindergarten The two shy little warthogs settled nicely in now. New Arrival: Pieter’s Baby “Pum” & “Ba” Baby-Boy “PONDU”
