Domestic Tourism Booms During The Festive Season

Domestic Tourism boomed beyond expatiation during this December as most Tourism establishments experienced full occupancy and some of the establishments had to cancel day visits due to the high demand, undoubtedly proving that Domestic Tourism in Limpopo is very lively and vibrant.

LTP (Limpopo Tourism and Parks) has just conducted a snapshot survey of all major attractions and less visited areas within the 5 Regions of our Province and the results were overwhelming. The survey also informed us that day visits and picnic sports were the most visited by local citizens.

With the festive season still underway, our Province will be hosting the 99 years celebration of the ANC (AfricanNational Congress) and official opening of the Frans Mohlala House this coming weekend whereby the entire NEC (National Executive Committee) is expected to descend to our beautiful and peaceful Province for the two celebrations. This is indeed proof that Limpopo has capacity to host major national events.

“Delegates to these two back to back events will be booked in local Resorts and Tourism establishments for the duration of their stay”, said Mr. Rob Tooley, the CEO of Limpopo Tourism and Parks. Tooley further said, “We anticipate yet another full occupancy in Polokwane this coming weekend and we are more than confident that we will be able to host and handle the capacity as we previously did”. Events that come to mind will be the recent World Cup in 2010 and 2007 ANC National Conference to mention a few.
