10.11.09The Limpopo Tourism and Parks Board held an awareness programme in the province about the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup through a family day event in Seshego.
The event took place on the 06 and 07 November and was aimed at promoting soccer as a family sport and to raise awareness about activities connected to the 2010 World Cup.
Parks board chief executive Benny Boshielo officially launched the campaign.
He said the purpose of the campaign was to mobilise the people of Limpopo and to raise awareness about the World Cup since Polokwane was one of the host cities.
“This will also be a way to encourage our people to rally behind Bafana Bafana before, during and beyond the 2010 Fifa World Cup,” Boshielo said.
“We also need to expose our local talent and to encourage our people to acknowledge tourists and give them a warm welcome to the province,” he said.
Activities for the event included jumping castles for children, soccer games between various organisations including Coca-Cola, the provincial departments of sports, arts and culture, roads and transport, the Northern Media Group, and soccer legends from the province.
