18.01.12Limpopo Tourism Agency is content with increased revenue at all its resorts during the 2011 festive season. The agency conducted a successful campaign in September 2011 with the aim of encouraging citizens in the province to traverse the province. We are very optimistic that the initiative, which was complimented by the festive campaign in November 2011, paid enormous dividends with the number of visitors to Limpopo Wildlife Resorts (LWR) doubling, thereby also increasing the total revenue of the agency.
The CEO of LTA, Mr. Rob Tooley, said, “The total number of visitors to Limpopo Wildlife Resorts in 2010 was 20 663, which accounted for the revenue of R1.6 mil. The LTA increased the number of visitors to its resorts to 51 094, which accounts for the increased revenue of R2, 404, 117.56, only for the month of December. We really feel very ecstatic and encouraged to work even harder to maintain the standard. We are also very encouraged by the improvement in the number length of stay in most of the resorts during the 2011 festive period as compared to the same period in 2010. We see this as a confidence boost as this will also contribute enormously to the provincial economy while jobs will also be created. For this great achievement, we wish to commend all our staff in the resorts for the job well done”.
We are already preparing for the next pick season during the Easter vacations and we wish to encourage all our staff to double their efforts as we anticipate receiving higher volumes of tourists at all the resorts. We, on the same note, wish to encourage everybody in the tourism industry to make concerted efforts to make Limpopo a hospitable province but most importantly, the mostly visited province in the country.
