23.01.12Limpopo; Makhado-Limpopo Tourism Agency will from this morning roll-out the second phase of the much anticipated Provincial Tourism Product Audit in the Vhembe Region from the 23rd January to 29th January 2012. The Provincial Tourism Product Audit is an exercise whereby the Agency takes stock of all tourism products, services and attractions within the Province for research and marketing purposes.
The audit seeks to research and produce a comprehensive audit of all tourism products/assets within the Province, including a review of existing research to identify gaps and opportunities in the current product offerings. The initiative will also identify strengths and weaknesses in the tourism product offerings and but also highlight opportunities for the tourism industry in Limpopo Province.
We are of the view that upon completion the audit will provide strategic input to the LTA's in respect of tourism products, routes, infrastructure development, definition and promotion. We are confident that the initiative will as well compliment LTA’s Tourism Marketing Strategy and all tourism packages in the province. Furthermore the audit also creates the basis for research sampling activities while it supports targeted marketing activities and fosters good stakeholder relations within the Province and SADC countries.
The tourism attractions to be targeted include Cultural sites, Archeological sites, Game Reserves and Community-Based Tourism Projects. In the Hospitality sector we will target establishments such as Guest Houses, Lodges, Bed & Breakfast, Restaurants, Hotels, Motels and Resorts.
NB: The Product Audit will be rolled-out in all Regions of our Province and we are hopeful to conclude the entire exercise by the 30 March 2012. The state of tourism in the Province will be released to media and industry at a date still to be set.
