LTA Welcomes The New Board Of Directors

Limpopo Tourism Agency Act 2009 provides for sustainable development of tourism in Limpopo; registration of tourism amenities; establishment of the Limpopo Tourism Agency; repeal of the Limpopo Tourism and Parks Board Act 2001 (Act No.8 of 2001); and for other matters incidental and pertinent thereto. The new act came into effect on the 1st July 2011.

In line with the Act, the Member of Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development, Environment, Environment and Tourism, issued out an advertisement in which he called on the public to nominate people so serve as members of the Board. The requirements of the Act indicated what the board presentation should reflect as stated below:
 

• Department, designated by MEC;
• South African Local Government Association (SALGA); designated by MEC;
• 2 members with experience and skills in tourism marketing, development and research;
• 1 member with experience and skills in wildlife industry;
• 1 member with experience and skills in managing protected areas and biodiversity conservation;
• 2 members with experience and skills in business management ;
• 2 members with experience and skills in community development; and2 members from Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders.The outcome of the process is as appointed by the MEC and the Board members are as follows:

- Chairperson: Mr. Mashilo Matsetela
- Deputy Chairperson: Ms. Tiveka Stella Mathumbu

The entire Board has been inducted, and during the induction the mandate, Act and corporate plan of the LTA was workshopped.
