28.12.09Polokwane-Limpopo Tourism and Parks was hard at work on Christmas eve, that is on 24/12/2009 it launched the much anticipated 2010 ‘Kasi Life’ campaign in Lebowakgomo Township at the Jazz Joint Tavern. Kasi Life is one of LTP’s 2010 catalyst campaigns which is mainly aimed at mobilizing and gearing local communities for the upcoming FIFA 2010 World Cup.
This campaign was focusing on township life particularly in the shebeens as most of the tourists will need a different lifestyle from the city life which most of them are already used to. Some of the major aspects that this campaign was focusing on are customer care, service standards, encouraging the practice of ubuntu, hospitality and welcoming guests with a smile.
Above all, this campaign will help project to the international community how ordinary South Africans hangout during and after soccer matches at their favorite shebeens or tarverns.
The LTP spent Christmas day hard at work but also pleasing the less privileged children at Westernburg, a township in Polokwane. This was after the agency received a letter from The School of Peace Community of Sant’Egidio, the organisation run mostly by very youthful members.
The MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mr. Pitsi Moloto and the CEO of Limpopo Tourism and Parks, Mr. Benny Boshielo, joined the less privileged children for Christmas lunch on 25/12/2009 at the Roman Catholic Church in Westernburg.
In attendance as well were leaders of both the Catholic Church and of Community of Sant’Egidio. Mr. Boshielo in his address pledged to, in his personal capacity, buy shoes for all the fifty children from the less privileged families but also buy food for them for the first two months of their meetings every Saturday. MEC Moloto on the other hand indicated that he was very encouraged by Mr. Boshielo’s gesture as it symbolises the spirit of Christmas which is about sharing.
He added that it was also encouraging that the society still has people like members of the Community of Sant’Egidio, who have passion and concern for those who are less privileged to ensure that during days like Christmas they also feel part of the society by being given presents as Christmas is about sharing and giving. He further commended the LTP for the difference and impact it continues to make in the lives of ordinary citizens in its community social investment programmes.
On the 26th December 2006, the LTP was again hard at work to celebrate the 2010 Family Day at Nwanedi and Mphephu Resorts. The CEO of the LTP, Mr. Benny Boshielo, was also in attendance to witness the activities of the day including soccer, swimming, jumping castle for the kids and entertainment by DJ’s.
This was part of the LTP’s 2010 Awareness Campaigns which were rolled out in October 2009, which will be spread to all the districts in the province. hundreds of people turned out to be part of the celebrations.
