24.08.11Limpopo Tourism Agency hosted the Women Expedition 2011 from 6th to 9th August 2011 that saw women from various media houses across the country participate in adventure activities, thereby giving them experience of what Limpopo has to offer and making them ambassadors.
Under the theme “From Newsroom to the Bush”, top female decision makers in the media fraternity had to swap their ‘stilettos’ for boots, pens for torches, laptops for navigators, handbags for backpacks, suits for safari khakis.
“This annual event was hosted by our hospitality and commercial wing, Limpopo Wildlife Resorts (LWR). The Women expedition has in the previous years recognized women from all walks of life including those from stockvel groups, event organizers, corporate organizations government departments and women in soccer”, said Rob Tooley, LTP CEO.
“In the previous expeditions, women were introduced to a range of wildlife and outdoor activities including: elephant tracking, target shooting, 4x4 trails, canopy tours quad biking, bird watching, golfing, helicopter flips, balloon flying, tubing, abseiling, boating”, added Tooley.
This year’s expedition included a breathtaking tour called the Luvuvhu Eco-trail which navigated the women from Polokwane to Shonalanga and Letaba Ranch Game Reserve before they came back to the Ranch in Polokwane.
Activities will included, Sunset boat cruise at Shonalanga, Wilderness walk and Safari drive at Letaba Ranch, Bush lecture by Transfrontier Parks Destination, bush camping, Scenery viewing and birding watching, and sky diving at the Ranch, in Polokwane.
“It is our hope that as the Tourism Agency, we will continue to crack other business sectors to give women a memorable Limpopo experience and make them our ambassadors”, added Tooley.
