18.10.10Mashovhela Lodge located in the mountains of the Soutspanberg of Limpopo in South Africa has been selected as a finalist for this year’s Imvelo Awards. Mashovhela Lodge was chosen from 209 category entries to make the 23 finalists.
The awards are in line with Responsible Tourism guidelines for South African Hospitality Industry and United Nation Organization code of ethics. They seek to reward businesses that have demonstrated sustained responsible practice in their operation in-terms of their natural, social and economic environment.
Imvelo Awards are now in their 9th year running and they have had huge impact on tourism in South African and creating a significant impact on environmental management in the Industry.
Mashovhela Lodge has already been awarded a Golf Leaf by the Wilderness Foundation, Green Leaf for its eco-tourism practices and South African Tourism Welcome Award for the best Lodge in South Africa for 2009/10.
The lodge has entered the following categories:
• Best Overall Environmental Management System
• Best Water Management
• Best Energy Management
A Chairman Award could be mad at the Discretion of the FEDHASA Chairman to any Imvelo entrant of any organisation in the tourism Industry that has made a significant contribution to responsible tourism over the past year.

Mashovela Lodge is not new to such highly contested competitions and we have our full confidence in the Lodge to not only strategically position our Province but set new standards in Environmental Management”, said Mr. Robert Tooley LTP CEO.
Winners will receive their Awards at an Award ceremony to be held in Johannesburg on World Responsible Tourism Day, 10 November 2010.
The Award is supported by the Department of Water and Environment, ABSA, ESKOM and Industrial Development Corporation.
