Makgabeng Farm Lodge To Represent Limpopo In Eteya

Mrs Lorraine Mabeba owners of Makgabeng Lodge will together with 8 other Provincial winners of ETEYA (Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award) make final presentations to a panel of judges at South African Tourism (SAT) Offices in Sandton on Wednesday, the 14th August 2013.  After a rigorous series of interviews and site inspection, Makgabeng Farm Lodge was announced as the Provincial winner for Limpopo Province at the annual Tourism Indaba this year in May.

The overall winner and finalists of ETEYA will be announced at the inaugural Lilizela Awards to be hosted at a venue to be confirmed in Pretoria on 12 September 2013. The Lilizela Awards are the first national streamline industry awards by the National Department of Tourism in partnership SAT and Provincial Tourism Authorities.  The Provincial Tourism Lilizela Awards  will be held on the 4th September 2013 at Meropa Casino and Entertainment Centre  as a build-up to the National Awards. Makgabeng Farm Lodge is a 3-star tourism establishment within the Blouberg local municipal area of Limpopo. The establishment offers accommodation, conference facilities and activities such as excursions to the local scenery and game reserves such as the Blouberg Nature Reserve and others.

The lodge is complimented by a unique attraction named Makgabeng rock art, with well over a 1000 recorded rock art sites on the Makgabeng Plateau and banded sandstone formations.

The owner, Ms Lorraine Mabeba who is a qualified tour guide and qualified chef, has passion for the tourism industry. She communicates with her staff on a weekly basis updating each other on the day-to-day business operation. The business started operating in December 2010. The facility has seventeen (17) rooms each with an individual theme with 3 permanent employees comprising local youth.
