Annual Mapungubwe Arts Festival in Limpopo

The Annual two-week long Mapungubwe Arts Festival is the flagship project of Limpopo’s Department of Sport, Arts and Culture. The festival that takes place during the first two weeks of December in Polokwane, Limpopo Province is viewed as a big melting pot of cultures and traditions; the festival is intended at fostering social cohesion and nation building through a collective celebration and embracing of great arts, culture, heritage and lifestyle.

This festival also have economic spin offs for the province and Polokwane City in particular through Arts and Craft Exhibition, hospitality industry and recreational public areas as high volumes of people come to Limpopo during the two-week long festival.

Some of the highlights of the festival includes the spectacular Cultural Street showcases the Limpopo’s cultural diversity through various traditional groups’ performance from all the five districts; Mapungubwe Arts Awards and Cultural Pageant; Film and Video festival; Mapungubwe Public Lecture; Theatre night, Comedy night, craft market and fashion show, Bush Braai and open air Jazz festival.
