Provincial Parks in Ba-Phalaborwa

Provincial Parks

Limpopo is home to numerous nature reserves and national parks. Besides the well-known national parks, such as the Greater Limpopo Park (Kruger National Park), Mapungubwe and Marakele approximately 50 further provincial nature reserves exist in this exquisite province that reflect the diversity of this pristine part of the world.

Managed by Limpopo Tourism and Parks, these nature reserves have the dual task of ecological conservation of unique destinations as well as the development of eco-tourism projects in co-operation with the respective local communities.

Letaba Ranch Provincial Park

Letaba Ranch Provincial Park

Situated a few kilometres north of Phalaborwa, Letaba Ranch covers just over 42.000 ha. Incorporated into the Greater Kruger National Park Conservation Area, Letaba Ranch is well known for its large herds of elephants and buffaloes.

Here travellers can also view hippos and crocodiles on the banks of the mighty Letaba River.

The African Ivory Route tented bush camp Mtomeni is on Letaba Ranch, but the game reserve is also open to day visitors for game drives in open vehicles. The gates are open daily from 6:00 to 18:00.
