LIMPOPO MARULA FESTIVAL IS RESUSCITATED

LIMPOPO; POLOKWANE: POLOKWANE; LIMPOPO PROVINCE: U are hereby invited to be part of the media delegation that will witness the launch of the 16 th edition of Limpopo Marula Festival billed to take place as follows: DATE : 18 TH FEBUARY 2022 VENUE : VAHLAVI GUEST HOUSE TIME : 18H00 The 04 th March 2006, was the day on which Marula Industries were created through the pronouncement of the policy statement for the department to make an economic intervention by developing Marula into a viable business industry for the Province based on the fact that Limpopo has a vast concentration of Marula trees (scientifically known as Sclerocarya birrea) found mostly in the sub-tropical parts of the Province including our neighboring provinces (viz: Mpumalanga and North West) as well as some parts in Mozambique, Botswana and Zimbabwe. In an effort to revive the tourism industry from the devastating effects of COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers took advantage of the eased lockdown regulations allowing events to be hosted with a maximum number of 2000 people attending physically in outdoor venues. The 2022 edition of Limpopo Marula Festival is planned with an emphasis on district events to comply with government stipulated regulations. The plan will still cover most of the activities as per available resources targeting 5 districts to recognize and commercialize the rich heritage of the province through beneficiation, women empowerment, capacity building and enhancement of the arts industry, focusing on youth and people with disabilities. This is further seen as an opportunity for the tourism sector and other related sectors in the tourism value chain to get back on their feet again starting the year with this event. NB.
