Limpopo; Polokwane: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is excited be part of the much-
anticipated IASIA-IIAS conference that was billed to take place at ATKV Klein Kariba in Bela-
Bela from 19-25 July 2020. Due to COVID-19 outbreak, the conference was postponed to
26-30 July 2021 and will now be held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The University of South Africa (UNISA) has been given the signal honour of hosting the
International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) conference 2021.
This is the 2nd time in IASIA’s history that the conference is being held on the African
Continent, and UNISA’s successful bid speaks in no small measure to its status amongst its
global peers, and its proven track-record of hosting excellent conferences. The conference
will take place at Klein Kariba, Limpopo Province of South Africa from 26–31 July 2021. The
conference was expected to attract 400 international academics to our shores. The
conference has since been changed from a hybrid format to an online conference.
IASIA is an entity of International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) which has its
own Board of Management and General Assembly and its own network (members). It shares
the Secretariat with IIAS. The IASIA-IIAS influences the global governance agenda through
high impact events targeting and involving both public service and academia; production
and dissemination of relevant knowledge on public governance; enabling collaborative and
strategic projects with members and partners; and accrediting both academic and
professional training programmes in line with standards of best practices in public
management.
The Acting CEO of LTA, Mr. Ndavhe Ramakuela, is excited about South Africa and Limpopo
in particular, playing host to this historic conference. The conference was supposed to have
taken place from 19-25 July 2020 but could not go on due to COVID-19 outbreak. The
announcement in 2019 about this conference was seen in a serious light as this is
confirmation that Limpopo is a perfect business and conferencing destination. We are
happy to be a partner even if the conference will be online. Small medium and micro
enterprises (SMME’s) will still be able to get an opportunity to exhibit their products during
this week-long conference despite it being online”.
The Premier of Limpopo, Mr. Chupu Stanley Mathabatha will render a welcome address,
while Limpopo Tourism Agency Chairperson, Mr. Andrew Dipela will also represent Limpopo
Tourism Agency.
Limpopo hosts the most anticipated IASIA-IIAS Conference 2
and build partnerships between public and the private sector to foster tourism marketing
and transformation in the tourism industry; facilitate tourism information dissemination at
the conference; utilize the conference as a platform to increase LTA brand awareness and
utilize the Conference as the catalyst for the promotion of domestic and international
travel in the country and destination Limpopo in particular.
