The 2023 Yellow Arum Lily Festival will be graced with the presence of the MEC of LEDET, Mr. Rodgers Monama, who will be supported by LTA Board Chairperson, Mr. Andrew Dipela, Deputy Chairperson, Ms. Grace Sibara, Chairperson of the Marketing Committee, Mr. Moses Tseli and Shareholder representative in the Board and Deputy Director General, Ms. Keleabetswe Tlouane.
Yellow Arum Lily is a celebration of a unique flower that grows only in the Sekhukhune region in the Leolo Mountain ranges and the rocky areas of Roossenekal after the summer rains in November. The flowers are protected as endangered species for which LTA with stakeholders and the community of Roossenekal are joining hands to promote and celebrate.
The CEO of LTA, Mr. Moses Ngobeni said, “Our wish is to see the festival grow even bigger to benefit the adjacent communities thus also growing the economy of the district. We are optimistic that the festival will be a district annual flagship event growing it to the provincial status like Limpopo Marula Festival and Mapungubwe Arts Festival. We are also confident that the sustenance of the collaboration we have with key stakeholders in Sekhukhune will help grow this festival to draw droves of people to the two areas where these flowers are found. We commit to marketing this event working with relevant stakeholders to see it at another level”.
Some of the activities at the festival include, traditional dances, open market, tours, music concert featuring artists like Pleasure Tša Manyalo and a local artist, Chris Venter, to entertain the audience.
