Limpopo Province; Thohoyandou: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is elated to be part of the 2024 edition of Phala Phala FM Royal Heritage Festival. This annual festival, which is billed to take place from 13 to 14 September 2024, has been preceded by the media launch that took place on Friday the 2nd August 2024 at Spar Thohoyandou, Mutsindo Mall, Vhembe District.
LTA, which was part of the launch, was represented by its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Ms. Modjadji Makoela, who welcomed the initiative by the organisers as this will grow the economy of the district and the province. “We are excited to be part of this major event, which will boost the economy of Vhembe District but also grow tourism in the area. We are calling for all the people in the province and beyond to support the festival”.
Present at the launch also was the Phala Phala FM Programmes Manager, Ms. Sharon Ravele who also made a plea to the people of Vhembe and listeners of the station to come to the festival in the numbers to support the event. She encouraged the people to buy tickets early while they are still cheap. On the other hand, Mr. Madikana Matjila, Limpopo SABC Combo Business Manager, also encouraged the people in Vhembe to come in droves to support the festival.
The PhalaphalaFM Royal Heritage Festival is an event that celebrates Arts, culture, sports and heritage in Limpopo. The festival brings festivities that uplift the local communities through Cultural Tourism, Arts & Culture, Sport and Education. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better with an exciting line up starting with gospel on Friday the 13th September 2024 concluding with other music genres like HipHop, Reggae, Traditional Music, Afro-pop, Soul, Amapiano, Jazz and others on the 14th September 2024 at Royal Gardens, Nandoni Dam, outside Thohoyandou.
The festival features both local artsits from Limpopo and National, as well as international artists. Through a diversity of its offering, the festival plays a role in the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage. It also promotes the use of the various languages, food, traditional rituals as part of social cohesion and nation building.
The MEC responsible for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), Mr. Tshitereke Matibe, also emphasised the importance of support of the event by the local people as this will contribute to the economy and tourism growth of the province. “We are excited about this initiative that is meant to support culture and heritage of our people. We are all eagerly waiting for the festival as it is an important event to unite the people in the district and indeed the whole province”. Said Matibe.
