LTA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL MEDIA TOUR TO SHOWCASE THE PROVINCE’S RICH TOURISM OFFERINGS

Limpopo Province; Polokwane: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) successfully hosted a vibrant and insightful media tour from 11 to 15 December 2024, welcoming both national and international media to explore and experience the hidden gems, cultural heritage, and natural beauty of Limpopo Province.

The journey commenced on 11 December, as the media crew departed Johannesburg for the Sekhukhune District, where they checked in at Hanna Game Lodge. On 12 December, as part of celebrating Tourism Thursdays the group explored the Eco Caves during a guided hour-long tour, gaining insight into the area’s fascinating geological formations. The day continued with a visit to the historic Bushman Rock Shelter, where the crew learned about the shelter’s historical and cultural significance. They then proceeded to the iconic Shoe Cave, enjoying a unique tour of its interiors followed by a scenic lunch.

The team continued their journey to Hoedspruit, passing through the picturesque Strijdom Tunnel before settling for the night at the luxurious Radisson Safari Hotel. On 13 December, the media group embarked on an immersive game drive at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, where they learned about critical conservation efforts for endangered species. The experience was followed by a visit to Qualito Distillery for a tour and tasting session, where the team enjoyed a variety of locally produced beverages and learned about their craftsmanship. Later in the day, the group took part in a relaxing Kambaku Boat Cruise, enjoying breathtaking views of the water and wildlife. The day concluded with an overnight stay at Cajori Hotel in Phalaborwa.

The adventure continued 14 December with a thrilling Magoebaskloof Canopy Tour, where participants enjoyed zip-lining and tree-hopping activities amidst lush landscapes. The group then proceeded to Polokwane, where they checked in at the Royal Hotel. The day culminated with an unforgettable cultural experience at the Mapungubwe Festival hosted at the Cricket Club, showcasing the province’s vibrant arts, culture, and music.

The media tour concluded on 15 December 2024, as the group bid farewell to Limpopo with a deeper appreciation of its diverse tourism offerings, from heritage sites to wildlife conservation and adventure activities.
