LTA makes a clarion call for Limpopo citizens to fill up Peter Mokaba stadium again for the international game between Bafana Bafana Clash and Tanzania
Limpopo Province; Polokwane: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is excited about the news that Bafana Bafana is returning to Limpopo Province at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday the 6th of June 2025 to take on Tanzania in the first of the two upcoming international friendly games.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed Tanzania and Mozambique as Bafana Bafana’s opponents for two upcoming international friendly matches set to be staged in South Africa next month.
This follows an historic Bafana Bafana encounter with Lesotho in a sold-out affair that saw Limpopo citizens come in their droves to fill up Peter Mokaba stadium to support their home team. The upcoming fixtures follow Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos’ announcement of a 41-man preliminary squad recently, on May 22. At the time, SAFA announced that SA would play two matches in June, though the opponents were not revealed yet.
The Belgian mentor, Bafana coach, is expected to trim this larger squad to a final 23 players before the end of the week.
Bafana Bafana will first face Tanzania at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday, June 6, 2025, with kick-off set for 19:30 CAT. The team is scheduled to report for camp in Johannesburg on Sunday, June 1, before travelling to Polokwane on the same day.
LTA wishes to once again encourage Limpopo citizens to start buying tickets in their numbers early to avoid disappointment but to also support the team like they did with the previous game. The SAFA has undoubtedly brought Bafana Bafana game with Tanzania because of the support the people of Limpopo displayed for Bafana Bafana-Lesotho FIFA World Cup qualifier game in March 2025.
The Chief Executive Officer of LTA, Mr. Moses Ngobeni, said: “It is not impossible for Limpopo citizens to do a repeat of what they did previously by filling up Peter Mokaba stadium again, this time for an international friendly against Tanzania. We are making a clarion call for the people of Limpopo to again open their arms as we welcome our team and the visitors not only from Tanzania but from other parts of the continent and the world to watch this important showpiece”.
As he concluded, Ngobeni said, “We further wish Mamelodi Sundowns FC well in their engagement and participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025”.
The second friendly match will be against neighbouring Mozambique, taking place at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The kick-off time for this encounter is yet to be confirmed.
