LIMPOPO; POLOKWANE: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and SABC Limpopo are both excited to be part of the “Follow the Sun Campaign” which is the brainchild of the two parties upon conclusion of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) by the two parties. The MoU seeks to see the two entities partner on strategic aspects of marketing the Limpopo Province as the preferred and leading tourist attraction in the country and the entire Southern Africa.
The SABC The CEO of LTA, Mr. Moses Ngobeni, said, “We are so excited to be part of this big campaign with the SABC Limpopo as our business is marketing. The campaign blends well with our Summer Campaign that our MEC of LEDET, Mr. Rodgers Monama, launched on the 28th October 2023. Signing an MoU with the public broadcaster of the calibre of the SABC is to us a milestone achievement as this will be the best vehicle to help us reach out to the clientele we need in the entire country. SABC is not only television but radio too for us to reach out to the clientele in the country, we need a partner like that. This mutual relationship will benefit both parties. We have four seasonal campaigns that we run in the province every year, each with its packages. We have seen what South African Tourism is doing in its promotion of the Sho’t Left Campaign nationally and we need to do that, but tailor make campaigns to our province to suite the needs of Limpopo citizens. We are confident the SABC through this relationship will be the best platform to achieve our objective”.
The Limpopo Head of the SABC, Mr. Oupa Mamabolo, was equally impressed with the achievement of the MoU that was eventually signed. He said, “It is always humbling to be in a relationship with a strategic partner like Limpopo Tourism Agency and we are indeed optimistic that this relationship we are building through the signing of a memorandum of understanding to concretise it, will be of benefit to both parties”.
Earlier on in the day before the signing ceremony, the LTA Board Chairperson, Mr. Andrew Dipela, emphasised the importance of the promoting culture and heritage which are both the wealth of the people of Limpopo. He said, We have a good relationship with the tourism industry in the province whom we urge to use this time of the festive season to develop reasonable packages for domestic tourists as well. We are excited to hear that SABC had visited Hoedspruit in Mopani District as part of the ‘Follow the Sun in Limpopo Campaign’. The campaign aims to showcase some of the tourism gems in the province. We are urging the people in the province to use this time to showcase their diverse cultures, customs, and heritage in the province to the world.
The 6TH and 7th December 2023 were important dates to mark on the Limpopo calendar of events as Limpopo Government under the stewardship of the Honourable Chupu Mathabatha, hosted a high-powered delegation from Henan Province of the People’s Republic of China headed by Vice Chairman, Henan Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Zhang Zhenyu.
