LIMPOPO; POLOKWANE: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA), Mr. Moses Ngobeni, is today leading a delegation of tourism stakeholders from Limpopo Province to Sandton International Convention Centre for a two-day 2025 edition of Meetings Africa that will commence on 24 February to 26 February 2025.

Meetings Africa is a tourism event featuring Africa as a destination spot. It aims at providing a comprehensive panorama in the field of travel industry in Africa. It is a great place for connecting with a global network of decision-makers, and executives or simply booking a vacation trip in the travel industry. This event strives to foster a healthy environment for business-to-client or business-to-business organizations across the globe.

LTA will at this platform seek to embrace the concept of Limpopo pavilion in its approach to stand design and construction. Distinguished features refer to key tourism icons and attractions requiring promotion and sustained exposure in the regions.

The objectives of attending Meetings Africa are to increase the tourist volumes, spend and length of stay arrivals into Limpopo Province as a favourable business events and sports tourism destination through pursuing, bidding and hosting both major, local and international events; to learn about the needs of organisers interested in hosting big events in Limpopo; and to showcase Limpopo’s experience and expertise in hosting and managing large, local and international events.

The theme for this year is, “Limpopo is opened for business”. The approach to the Meetings Africa 2025 is to promote events and meetings products. This will further assist the entity to come up with strategies on the approach regarding the extended mandate of Trade and Investment Promotions that the entity will embark on in the new financial year, 2025/26. “We will also highlight the diversified Heritage and Culture that will come as an incentive for businesses bidding for events and meetings since our province does not have Conventions Bureau to bid for major events in the province, said CEO of LTA, Mr. Moses Ngobeni.

Meetings Africa is a perfect platform for the interaction between world buyers and exhibitors where the tourism sector showcases what Africa has on offer for buyers from various countries of the world. Buyers can develop packages for international visitors in their respective countries.

Meetings Africa showcases Africa’s diverse offering of services and products where African associations and African meetings industry professionals can partner to help transform our continent, in the Business Services, Travel & Tourism industries. It connects trade, buyers and exhibitors from the continent and around the world, all of which are an integral part of Business tourism.

Ngobeni further said, “The agency will continue to use this platform to engage several buyers to come to Limpopo for meetings and incentives to grow our Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector or business tourism. The province may not have a convention center but will continue working with the private sector to bid for hosting small to medium events and meetings in the province”.

Exhibitors at this show include airlines, conference, event and exhibition management companies, convention bureaus, destination management companies, destination marketing organizations, hotels, venues and incentive travel specialists. Meetings Africa enjoys the support of all representative business tourism associations including the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) and the Exhibition and Event Association of Southern Africa (EXSA).
